There was a group of neighborhood friends that formed in the park across the street from my house and we spent all of our time together. Spring through fall you can bike from one side of town to the other.
This kind of freedom to explore was a big part of my childhood and friendships. In late middle school/early high school I would take a 7 mile route out of town through the farm fields.
I moved away for college and my parents sold my childhood home a few years later. As I progress further into adulthood, I have a growing fear that I’ll lose my connection with where I have come from.
Lyrically, Pedal Break holds little anchor points that tie me back to the atmosphere and pace of my childhood and adolescence. The song was written as a vehicle to drop back into that dream.
